This was the first time I have had any surgery in 36 years and I could not have asked for a better Dr to be taking care of me as an anaesthetist. He met me in the morning and connected in a personal level, and talked me through everything that was going to happen. During surgery, I remember him been very calm and efficient. After surgery he came a d checked on me to tell me how it went and making sure the pain want to unbearable. Finally, he left me with his mobile number and checked in several times over the weekend to make sure I was managing with the pain and giving me advice on what to do. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is about to partake in surgery.

Met Dr Griffiths prior to my surgery and discussed pain management. He was understanding and was very reassuring. He had a great bedside manner and was easy to talk to. Would highly recommend him.

Dr John Griffiths was my anaesthetist during an 8 hour mastectomy and immediate reconstruction procedure. Apart from the cancer scare, my biggest anxiety was the risks around the lengthy procedure and it was also my first time undergoing surgery. Dr Griffiths gave me a call the day before the surgery checking that I was mentally ready and following the dos and don’ts in preparation for the surgery. He also shared his stats as an anaesthetist performing in similar procedures to mine which I found very reassuring. On the day of the surgery, I was struck by his warm, friendly and reassuring nature which he maintained through and through. During the procedure, he called my partner to update him on progress which he found very useful and reassuring during the long wait. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr Griffiths for his medical expertise, everything went smoothly and pain free. To a larger extent, I recommend him for his personable personality which I believe plays an important part to settle a patient who is about to undergo a major surgery and helps in their recovery.

John Griffiths was my anaesthetist for a complex 14 hour operation to remove a tumour. He also played an important role in getting me to my operation and through it. Two weeks prior to my operation I was admitted to our local hospital with pneumonia, and six days later it was still touch and go as to whether I would be fit enough for surgery. Dr Griffiths helped to get me discharged and counselled my wife and I on what we needed to do to accelerate my recovery at home. He also set up a WhatsApp group to support us. I believe this motivation and support greatly contributed to my rapid recovery, and five days later, with the help of a detailed report that Dr Griffiths wrote, I was given the go-ahead. Just prior to the operation his engagement and positive attitude helped me to prepare, and during the operation he provided regular updates to my wife which she found enormously helpful. In his role as an ICU consultant he had me sitting in a chair the following lunchtime with the same positive, caring attitude, which, by the way, you could see was reflected in his team. The operation was a success and I recovered quickly from the effects of the anaesthetic. I'm am now on a journey of recovery, and my mindset and motivation in facing the challenges ahead have been positively influenced by Dr Griffiths. His care and support has been outstanding.
